ARI SPIRAL TANK CARS

Another ROKA first for the modern North American railroad modeling scene is the never before modeled Ready-to-Run (RTR) HO scale 33,700 Gallon coiled pressurized insulated tank cars manufactured by ARI/Greenbrier with coiled lap welded outer tank steel jackets. Built to meet DOT-112J340W specifications for the transportation of pressurized Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) and also for the transportation of low pressure high hazard..


To meet customer demand, ROKA models have added a third version to the HO scale 33.7-gallon spiral tank car model project. This new model version represents prototype brake equipment positioning with the brake reservoir and AB control valve at the "B End" of the model.

All three different versions of spiral tank car brake equipment arrangements are now available for no cash down reservations.  Each of these three model versions will include two different types of tank jacket lap welding. These multiple versions of spiral tank car models ROKA Models is offering deliver the accurate super detail that discerning prototype modelers demand.

Safe-Pak History

In 1973 the first fully enclosed autorack railroad cars were designed by competing manufacturers to address the problem of increasing vandalism to new automobiles in transit.

The first production fully enclosed autorack railroad cars were delivered in late 1974 and early 1975.

The Whitehead & Kales company design, named Safe-Pak, were delivered to the ATSF, SBD, CSXT Patch, UP/WP, UP, WP, NW, SCL, FEC, and CPAA.
The Safe-Pak autorack cars were in service on US and Canadian railroads until the late 1990s.
